Tomorrowland lancerer asiatisk udgave i Pattaya i 2026
Den internationale musikfestival Tomorrowland udvider nu officielt til Asien. Festivalorganisationen har bekræftet, at Tomorrowland Thailand afholdes fra 11. til 13. december 2026 i Pattaya, hvor Wisdom Valley danner ramme om den første fuldskala-udgave på det asiatiske kontinent
Tomorrowland har gennem flere år været blandt verdens største elektroniske musikbegivenheder, og Thailand er valgt som værtsland efter længere tids forberedelser og dialog med nationale myndigheder og turismeorganisationer.
Wisdom Valley bliver nyt festivalområde
Festivalen placeres i Wisdom Valley i Bang Lamung-distriktet, Chonburi-provinsen – et område på over 227 hektar med åbne landskaber, natur og bjergrige omgivelser. Arrangørerne forventer et dagligt publikum på over 50.000 gæster fordelt over tre dage.
Tomorrowland Thailand vil byde på seks scener, herunder den karakteristiske Mainstage samt de velkendte CORE- og FREEDOM-scener, som dermed får deres asiatiske debut. Derudover introduceres nye scenedesigns udviklet specifikt til festivalen i Thailand.
Samarbejde med thailandske myndigheder
Afviklingen sker i samarbejde med den thailandske regering og Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), som ser festivalen som en mulighed for at styrke landets position inden for oplevelsesbaseret turisme og internationale kulturarrangementer.
Ifølge arrangørerne forventes festivalen at få betydelig betydning for både turisme, hotelbranchen og de kreative industrier i regionen.
Billetter og ophold Der bliver ikke etableret DreamVille-campingområde i forbindelse med Tomorrowland Thailand. I stedet lanceres
hotelpakker med transport, som bliver sat til salg 28. februar 2026.
Det efterfølgende globale billetsalg åbner 7. marts 2026.
Første skridt mod et langsigtet asiatisk engagement
Tomorrowland Thailand markerer begyndelsen på et nyt kapitel for festivalen i Asien. Med erfaring fra Europa og Sydamerika ønsker arrangørerne at etablere et varigt fodfæste i regionen – med Thailand som udgangspunkt.
Festivalen afholdes 11.–13. december 2026 i Pattaya.

Jamen hov, jeg har da også mødt kærligheden i Thailand, og har mangfoldig gjort mig med både børn og børnebørn, så den bider ikke på mig
Det der irriterer mig derude er al det svindel de holder på med, det hænger mig ud af halsen, at blive snydt som en anden idiot, bare for at jeg er farang og ser lidt godt ud
Som dengang en dulle fik mit telefonnummer og en uge senere ringede til mig og tårevædet fortalte mig om sin trafikulykke og den store regning til hospitalet, som hun gerne ville betale, med mine penge selvfølgelig.

In December 2023, DW broadcast a documentary on sex tourism in Pattaya which unleashed a wave of outrage. National media in Thailand took up the story - at its center, the case of a suspected German pedophile.
The German national had been arrested in Pattaya on suspicion of child sexual abuse. He was alleged to have taken underage girls from a bar to back his apartment. But instead of being brought to justice, he was able to leave the country. Allegations followed that a significant bribe was involved. Once details of the case entered the public sphere, the Thai Prime Minister himself intervened to demand that the police and judiciary investigate any official errors.
Now, the film "The Red Light’s Dark Shadow” explores what’s happened since. How has the situation in Thailand changed? Big promises were made at the time - have these been followed up by firm action? The film crew’s findings have also prompted a debate in Thailand on whether legalizing sex work could be a way to dismantle criminal structures in the red-light milieu and thereby facilitate a more robust response to child prostitution. After all, the experts agree that sex tourism creates structures in red-light districts that acutely endanger minors.
In his documentary, author Wolfgang Luck asks whether Thailand is genuinely serious about fighting child prostitution and corruption. The film hears from child protection agencies, politicians, bar owners and high-ranking police officers. The team also checks on progress in the case against the suspected German pedophile.
Update Aug. 2024: A court has reached a verdict in the case of the arrested German. The main district court in Frankfurt am Main has sentenced him to nine months on probation. No clear evidence was presented by Thai authorities proving the youngest victim was 13 years old or younger, therefore the man was convicted on charges of "abuse of minors" and "obtaining possession of juvenile pornographic content." He must also pay several thousand euros to a charitable foundation.
