Brittney Schneider, 22 of Alberta, told reporters from back home that she was so relieved to not be going to prison for 10 years and paying a million baht fine – the maximum penalty for spray painting “B” on the Thaa Pae Gate Oct. 18.

She and Liverpool native Lee Furlong, who sprayed “Scousse Lee” on the wall, were arrested within hours of tagging the gate. She now says she’s sorry.
The woman was originally sentenced to two years in jail and a 100,000 baht fine.

The judge cut the jail time in half because she confessed, then suspended the sentence, but kept the fine.

It is believed Furlong received the same sentence in the closed court hearing. “A lot of people I’ve met in Thailand showed a lot of compassion even though it was their wall I vandalised.

They still were so nice to me and were so worried about me,” Schneider said.

She is still being held in Thailand waiting for the Criminal Court to finalise papers to immigration so she can be deported. Currently, she is banned from the kingdom but for some reason thinks that will be lifted once she’s on a plane.
