Checkinn99: An original Bangkok Cabaret Bar and Nightclub. Originally built in 1957 as The Copacabana it was the first multi story building on Sukhumvit Wattana Rd merging with the Club99 from Silom in the early 1980's it operated as a Scandinavian man's club and hostess bar. It was a place of much revelry.. but times changed and that format fell out of favour with a much more discerning clientele. Changing hands again in 2011 it soon become a highly popular no-hassles laid-back night venue with live entertainment from the incredibly talented house band Music of the Heart band and hosts a very popular Sunday afternoon jazz jam.

The venue was soon nominated as one of the Top Twenty Hidden gems in the world by Trip Advisor, and also ranked as the both #1 Night Attraction and #1 Jazz Venue in Bangkok for 5 consecutive years. In 2014 (when this clip was made, it won the prestigious BigChili Magazine "Top Entertainment award in Thailand"

Unfortunately the lease for Checkinn99 was cancelled forcing a 4 week notice of eviction by the IndianThai Landlord to allow the back half of the heritage venue converted to an Middle East trinket market and the front half cut off to form the lobby of an Accor hotel group / hostel.. a an avoidable decision resulting from an inability to plan for the integration of this classic venue with surrounding developments.
