Red-shirts rallying at parliament

About 300 red-shirt supporters of the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship on Thursday morning gathered in front of parliament to launch a signatures collection campaign to seek the impeachment of the seven judges of the Constitution Court, reports said.

The UDD has a target of 20,000 signatures. It plans to immediately submit the petition for impeachment of the judges to Senate Speaker once the target is met.

The red-shirts accused the eight judges of the court of violating the charter in ordering parliament to suspend its vote on the charter amendment bill, pending a review of its constitutionality.

The gathering forced caused police to bar traffic from Uthong road in front of the parliament compound.

Metropolitan police deputy commander Pol Maj Gen Methee Kusolsang said four companies of police were deployed inside and around parliament to maintain peace and order.
