Thai authorities arrested a Thai man after finding 1,940 monitor lizards, 717 of turtles, 44 of palm civets, 5 of king cobras and 15 cobras hidden on a truck believed to be smuggeld from a neighboring country to end up as delicacies in restaurants and as medicines behind drug counters. The total of 2,721 smuggled wildlife are listed as endangered species in CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) worth 131,000 US dollars or 97,000 euro (4 million Thai bath), customs said.
